2nd and 4th periods:  finish your storyboards about "The Fall of the House of Usher." Everyone:  Read the three pages in your packet about "Analyze Craft and Structure - Gothic Literature" and answer the questions with as much detail as you can.  The "reteach" and "practice" pages are a little easier. Have a good day!

Write at least half a page about what you did over the weekend, or something you did this past week, or the football game on Friday (if you went).  Write the date.  This goes in the writing section of your notebook, of course. Have a good day!

In the first section of your notebook (after you skip a few pages), you are going to write your answers to the questions on the first three pages of the packet I gave you about "The Fall of the House of Usher."  Write the date and then write 1a, 1b, 2a, etc. for each question.  You do not need to write out the question, but each answer should take two or three good sentences to complete thoroughly.  Be sure to cite examples from the text.  This is an important skill! Have a nice weekend.

In the writing section of your notebook, write at least half a page about where you might like to move and why.  This can be a place you actually plan to move to someday or just a fantasy about somewhere you would like to live.  Describe what you would do there and why it would be a good move. Happy Wednesday!

Do the worksheet on proper nouns and then glue it into the grammar section of your notebook.  If you have any questions about this or any other assignment, please come in at lunch or after school and ask me, or else you may write appropriate comments after this blog post. Have a good day!

Write at least half a page about what you did over the weekend or during the past week.  Did you go to Homecoming?  That's a good topic for a narrative. Have a good day!

Finish the rest of the exercises in the vocabulary packet, 1d and 1e, and study for the vocabulary quiz on Monday.  You should have the vocabulary half-sheet that I passed out in class. You can also join my Quizlet group "Thiesmeyer ELA 2."  The list is on there, and you can play games to help you review, if you already have a Quizlet account.  I will book time soon in the computer lab, so the rest of you can sign up for Quizlet and start using it.  You should download the app on your phones, to make it easier to use in places where the wifi signal doesn't work well. Have a great weekend!

Do exercises 1a, 1b, and 1c in the packet of vocabulary practice.  There will be a vocabulary quiz on Monday, September 24th, so you will need to review! There is grammar quiz tomorrow (Friday the 21st), so be sure you understand the concept of making the verb tenses agree with each other. Happy Thursday!

In the writing section of your notebook, write at least half a page about a new national holiday (that you are making up).  Give it a name and a date on the calendar.  Decide what activities will go with it, what foods, what clothes or other accessories, etc.  Is it a fun holiday or does it represent something sad and serious?  Use your imagination!  Don't forget to write the date. Have a good day!
