Inclement Weather Transportation Considerations
INCLEMENT WEATHER WARNINGS & ADVISORIES
HEAVY RAINFALL / FLOODING
When severe weather affects road conditions, CNUSD families will be notified to expect delays with transportation. In certain outlying areas that become inaccessible to the school bus, families will be notified and will be responsible for transporting their student(s) to school. Families may also communicate with their school site regarding any absences. In all cases we encourage our families to take precautions for the utmost safety of their student(s).
While First Student buses are equipped with air conditioning, the functionality is different from passenger vehicles. During times of high heat, the interior of the bus may not cool to the desired temperature of each passenger. Due to frequent stops in the community the inside temperature is affected when hotter air temperatures enter the bus from the outside.
On days of high heat, please consider sending your student with a reusable water bottle to ensure they stay hydrated. Lightweight, breathable clothing can also help keep them cool. You may also consider sending a cooling towel or cloth, which can provide some additional relief.
For students who may be sensitive to heat, families may also choose to make alternative arrangements for transportation when heat advisories are in effect.
We are committed to your child’s safety and comfort and appreciate your support as well.
