Biography

As a Physical Education teacher, my purpose is to inspire students to develop lifelong habits of physical activity, confidence, and personal well-being. I strive to create an inclusive and engaging environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and capable of success.

Syllabus:
NORCO HIGH SCHOOL
Physical Education Syllabus

Physical education will create an environment that will engage all students in a positive learning atmosphere. A fair and respectful climate will be established to promote social development and group responsibility. Students will develop the skills and strategic knowledge needed to participate in lifelong activities that will promote health through enjoyable behavior and an understanding of how to care for their health through positive habits. Students will be expected to exhibit appropriate behavior and use instructional time effectively.

 
REQUIREMENTS FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION
· PE Clothes = Plain gray or white athletic shirt, royal blue shorts, sweats (may be gray, white or blue.) The Norco PE uniforms are available in the student store. T-shirts $15.00, Shorts $15.00.

· Athletic shoes that lace up and must have complete backs on them.

· Students are responsible to be dressed out completely and on time to their roll call numbers 10 minutes after the tardy bell.

· Students are responsible for all make-up work when absent. See your teacher for make-up assignments. This includes medical excuses.

· Students are responsible to participate in all activities. Any restrictions need to be addressed with their PE teacher prior. Medical documentation must be provided to be exempt from any activity. Parent notes are allowed in case of injury and/or short term exemption.

 
GRADING POLICY: ( For quarter and semester)
Students earn 10 points per day, except on the run day which is worth 20 points. In order to earn the points you must be dressed properly and participate fully during the entire period. Students are also graded on sportsmanship, citizenship, attitude, content retention from lessons, and skill tests. The following point scale is an example used to figure grades. Points can vary per quarter but the grading scale percentage will still apply.

The following are instances that can improve or decrease a student’s point total:

*Unexcused non-suits cannot be made up and are subject to permanently lowering a student’s grade for the quarter and/or semester. The following is a breakdown of highest grades possible that can be achieved if a student has multiple unexcused non-suits:

Excuses/Medicals
a. A parent can excuse a student for up to 3 consecutive days.
b. A doctor’s note is required for an illness or injury longer than three days.
c. Students should give the excuse note to the teacher prior to roll call.
d. If a teacher excuses you from participation, you will still be required to dress out in a PE uniform.
e. Work missed must be made up per the teacher’s instructions.
f. Medicals longer than three days in duration will require the students to involve themselves in the academic work provided by the teacher.

· It is the responsibility of the student to inform the substitute if they are out on a medical or parent note. You are not allowed to participate in any physical activity during the duration of the note.
