Teaching & Educational Background
The 2023-2024 school year will be my 11th year in teaching and my 10th year in CNUSD. I spent 7 years at Eleanor Roosevelt HS, but this is my 3rd year as part of the Norco High family! I am passionate about literature and literacy, and I am an avid reader in my spare time. This year I am teaching 10th honors & 11th Grade, which incorporates some of my favorite themes and literature. I have a B.A. in English, UC Riverside, a M.A in Education, University of Southern California, and a M.A. in English Literature, Southern New Hampshire University.
My Teaching Philosophy
I value every student's progress towards their goals. Therefore, it is my intention to be deliberate in supporting and guiding each of them daily in finding success, and celebrating the progress they make. I model this through the mindset of aiming for "progress, not perfection," and through my own efforts to be a life-long learner.
Classroom Information
- My syllabus can be found in Canvas. Please have your student access it there for you.
- Grades will be updated weekly in Q.
- 10th Grade will focus on themes of alienation and society through the relationship between power and freedom
- 11th Grade will focus on a survey of American Literature with a focus on rhetoric and argumentation
Family & Fun
I have four children - all are grown now, ranging in age from 18 to 33. I have three grandsons, and when I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and reading a good book. I even started my own book club five years ago! I am also passionate about researching my family history, love country music (well, all music really, but country has my heart), and my happy place is at the beach!
