Read through Source #1 again in the performance task and look for the main ideas in the body of the article.  Every few paragraphs or so, there should be another "big idea" that you can underline. For each of those big ideas, there should be some supporting details.  Next to each sentence that looks like a supporting detail, put a little number (1, 2, 3).  Each big idea should have at least two or three pieces of evidence to support it. Happy Thursday!

Read through Source #1 in the performance task and look for any words that you don't know, especially the kind of "key words" that might prevent you from understanding the whole sentence or whole paragraph if you don't know what they mean.  You should underline or highlight these words in pink or red. Also, if you want to get at least partial credit for Tuesday's homework, please bring in a "free reading" book or magazine to read whenever you have finished your other work.  This should be something that you enjoy reading just for fun (and school appropriate, of course). Have a great day!

Tonight's homework is another reminder to get the school supplies that I assigned you yesterday.  See yesterday's blog post if you have forgotten.  Everyone needs to have the notebook by Thursday, so we can set it up. Also, please bring in a novel, non-fiction book, or magazine (not something on your phone) that you are reading "for pleasure."  Bring it with you every day and replace it when you are done with a new book.  You may also check out a book from the school library for this purpose.  Any time you have finished your work early, I expect you to do a little free reading from this source. Enjoy the day!

Welcome back to Norco! Tonight's homework assignment is easy.  You need to sign (and have a parent sign) the rules/syllabus page that you received in class today.  This is due tomorrow. As soon as possible, but by Thursday at least, get the school supplies that I told you about in class: Five-subject notebook, college-ruled (this is important for size), Mead 5 Star (these are the most durable) A pack of 100 3"x5" index cards Blue or black pens Pencils and erasers Two poly folders with fasteners Multi-colored flare pens Highlighters Optional: Glue stick Ruler Pencil sharpener
